In the spring of 2025, Abilia is once again collaborating with the graduate engineering program Design and Product Development at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. The partnership began in 2013 and has been carried out several times since then, most recently in 2021.

Abilia contributes by providing real user needs for the students to work with as they learn the design process. This year's task for more than 100 students is to think anew about existing time management aids. Throughout the course, we share our expertise on cognitive impairments and participate in student presentations.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise awareness about inclusive design while being inspired by the students' innovative thinking and fresh perspectives. The visits to KTH are both enjoyable and educational, and we were already impressed by their analysis presentations. Now we look forward to seeing their concept presentations," says Jenny Berglund, Portfolio Manager Abilia.

This year, we are also contributing with a bachelor's thesis project focused on the further development of Komp, a user-friendly device for communication that promotes social interaction with family, relatives and care staff. The purpose of the project is to assess whether Komp can make a difference for elderly individuals in an earlier stage of life, enabling them to live independently at home for a longer time.
