How do I stop my Lightwriter SL40 predicting a particular word?

Your Lightwriter will automatically remember the words you use and the way you use them. Any words you use regularly will appear in your predictions. This can be really useful to speed up your communication. However, if you have an embarrassing or irritating word that keeps appearing in the predictions you may want to remove it.

Recommended action:

In order to stop the prediction, you will have to first add the word into the Dictionary, then remove it again afterwards. This seems a strange process, but it will reset the prediction memory for this particular word.

A - Add word to Dictionary

  1. From the main menu go to Setups (option 7), then Word Stores and Language (option 4), then Word Stores (option 1).
  2. Use Next, Back and Do keys to select Dictionary (option 5).
  3. Select Add New. Enter the word you want to delete from your predictions then press Do to save it to the Dictionary.

B - Remove word from Dictionary

Your dictionary entries are sorted into groups alphabetically. So ‘Coffee’ will be found under ‘C’.

Alternatively you can also find your entry by filter. Start to type your word on the keyboard and a list of words will begin to appear.

  1. Locate your word in the Dictionary and press Menu
  2. Use Next, Back and Do keys to Delete Word
  3. When you return to the Talk activity, your deleted word should no longer appear in predictions.

Please note - if you start to use the same word again, your Lightwriter will re-learn it and it will return to your predictions.
